Production

The production department is overseen by Ben Haak and consists of 3 sections: work preparation, production and shipping.

Work preparation

This discipline determines the progress of the production department; this department orders the correct materials on time, cuts the main rolls to the correct size for each order, controls the stocks and colours the orders according to the wishes of the buyer.

This function is often underestimated in many organisations. Not by us...

Production

On the production department, the pre-prepared materials are made into a complete label: blanks, precision cutting, perforation, printing, rolling, folding: it all happens here.

Given the versatile portfolio of van der Eng labels, it takes a long time before a production person knows what they are talking about. Therefore there are not so many people that work on this department. Due to the pressure, we work in split shifts which start at 07.00 or 10.00. Production puts its lights out around 18.00 but however well we try to plan, it happens often that the lights go out late into the night. Sometimes there are production runs that just have to be finished, then we are all there - men and women alike. For us it's normal.

Shipping

The last part of production. All pre-packed orders are checked again, the correct address stickers attached and the orders are then sent with the various couriers to our customers. It seems simple but in reality, afternoons are stressful trying to get everything ready to be shipped out.

The People

Technical and Production manager: Ben Haak

haak-ben.jpghaak-ben-werk.jpg

What has he done to now:
Active for nearly 16 years in van der Eng and has proved to be a stable factor. For years was the link between management and production, and has several successful years in the management team behind him. You can't tell Ben anything new about technique even though he claims to learn new things on a daily basis. Drives our suppliers mad as he likes to push the machines to their limits of the allowed tolerances. The advantage is that we are at the leading edge and are a pilot organisation for any new technical developments. Is up to his ears in work, but claims he will soon have time to go and study business administration. Is an easy-going guy but we don't expect his profile on the website any time soon. That's the reason only a small amount of information is available here.
Who is he (according to customers and colleagues):
A perfectionist and workaholic. A large sense of responsibility combined with a constant drive for optimisation of production techniques. A good networker who knows how to get that little bit extra out of the suppliers. Ben has lived with Judith for a long time and has 2 children. He has more than enough time for hobbies - at work.

Work preparation: John Bezemer

bezemer-john.jpgbezemer-john-werk.jpgWhat has he done up til now:
for more than 25 years, John is responsible for the work preparation: stock control, extraction, cutting and colouring.
Who is he (according to customers and colleagues):
John is a man of few words together with a dry sense of humour. Is the first to start up production; John is in work at 6am. With his slow walking pace you would think that John doesn't get excited. An illusion. Work preparation is the basis for all orders and John takes that very seriously.

Production: Jim Kraaijenveld

kraaijeveld-jim.jpgkraaijeveld-jim-werk-1.jpgWhat has he done til now:
Jim has been with us for more than 4 years and is a perfectionist. Works in various disciplines and works on improving the machine settings which, according to him, can always be improved.
Who is he (according to customers and colleagues):
You have to get to know him because he can be a peculiar character. Although he has a direct approach, he is always prepared to help.

Production: Dennis van Wijk

been with the company since February 2000 and can use any machine. Coordinates the cluster of the 2 big presses; planning, quality control, leading the teams and production where necessary.
Who is he (according to customers and colleagues):
Dennis enjoys company especially football matches. Is always up for a joke but has a big sense of responsibility. Is a hard worker.

Production: Wilberto Rivas Lopez

rivas-lopez.jpgrivas-lopez-wilberto-werk.jpgWhat has he done til now:
comes from Costa Rika and is back-up for Wilberto since August 2007. When he came to Holland he was a tour guide amongst other things. The biggest change is the language. Therefore is Wilberto busy with his integration course.
Who is he (according to customers and colleagues):
A charming colleague (according to the ladies especially) who has mastered the technique quickly. Communication with Wilberto, at the moment, is in English. Works for quite a while on 1 of our biggest presses.

Production: Tamara Delmte
delmte-tamara-2.jpgdelmte-tamara-werk.jpg
What has she done til now:
Tamara works for more than 8 years as an operator. Straight from school, she started in the company and immediately set her own stamp on it.
Who is she (according to customers and colleagues):
The silent strength of the department. Although Tamara is naturally quiet, she is 1 of the stable factors in the department. Her orders are finished with the greatest precision; no matter how complex, Tamara will get it done.
